What started as a meeting with a group of ten people interested in starting a club, progressed to pot-luck dinner meetings at members homes. This gave our club members a chance to see different gardens and ponds and to share ideas. It was clear early on that information about pond care and koi was badly needed. It also became clear that we are a social club. After setting our goals, the OK&WS became a non-profit entity. Members find club meetings and watergardening rewarding and enriching. They have also experienced an added bonus of a wealth in friendships beyond measure.

Gainesville, Florida
The Southern Koi Association (SKA) is based in Florida. The club evolved out of discussions to start a ZNA Chapter in Florida. Once the formation of the new club was announced, the news spread quickly with over 20 member families signing up within one month. Before we could request friendship club status, our membership number swelled enough for us to request full chapter status.
The club's founding members are avid Koi show people and collectors who have attended and helped manage shows in Florida and outside the state for many years. The focus of this club is solely Koi, with emphasis on appreciation of these beautiful fish and learning to grow them to their maximum potential.
